Coentrao open to January move

Here at the Football Transfer Tavern it seems that Real Madrid are never out of the news and today in Marca there is no difference. The publication report that Fabio Coentrao is doubtful over his future at the club.

The full back arrived on the back of a 30 million euro fee from Benfica and has struggled to win over both the Spanish fans and press. Just this week, Pepe accused the media of always blaming the Portuguese players should anything go wrong, and Coentrao is the perfect example of this.

The player and his camp feel that he will never get the recognition he deserves whilst remaining in the Spanish capital and are prepared to look for a way out for the player. With Portuguese compatriots Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo also looking like leaving the Spanish giants, Coentrao feels even more unsettled and super agent Jorge Mendes is putting out the feelers for the player should he choose to leave.

Chelsea have been reported as a potential suitor, especially given Ashley Cole will not see his contract extended in the summer, and London is certainly an option for the player. Another option would clearly be to follow the manager who paid so much for him and rates him so highly- Paris Saint Germain or Manchester City perhaps?
