Concerning events behind the scenes at Chelsea – Report

Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are feeling unsettled after their latest heavy defeat, as uncertainty spirals all around Stamford Bridge.

The Blues season went from bad to worse on Monday night, as a crushing 4-1 loss at the hands of Watford saw Chelsea suffer back-to-back defeats by a three goal margin for the first time in 22 years. Indeed, a shocking record that only goes to dampen the views of supporters on their current situation under Antonio Conte, as the Italian continues to dodge major criticism from a hostile fan-base. And, it doesn’t appear that the fans are the only ones affected by their recent results, as according to reports in the Mail Online, there’s major dressing-room unrest after the horrific defeat against Watford.

Indeed, Conte has acknowledged that he will not be the Chelsea manager come the end of the season, after it was originally thought that he wanted to stay beyond the summer. However, after the events of Monday night, major dressing-room tension has crept in – something that will not be tolerated in the midst of one of the most crucial times in terms of chasing a Champions League spot.

However, with a lucrative amount of money needing to be paid out if Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was to get rid of the Italian, it looks as if the players are going to continue to protest with poor performances on the field, as it’s unlikely that the club will want to suffer a financial setback. Although, having already had Roberto Di Matteo and Andre Villas-Boas fall to the West Brom ‘sacking curse’, Conte could be the next to suffer the fate as they welcome the Baggies to Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Antonio Conte has tried to stay loyal to Chelsea even at the toughest of times, but the players performances on the pitch aren’t helping the manager’s cause with him often being the one under fire after a bad result. Therefore, with potentially no future to look forward to at Stamford Bridge for Conte, fans could come to expect a decline in the performances for the remainder of the Blues’ season.
