For the most part, the Chelsea fans who frequent the Transfer Tavern in their droves are happy about the slight change in the attitude shown towards the club’s hefty youth ranks with Antonio Conte in charge.
Though there’s been no radical change just yet, the Blues in the bar believe the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah and Nathan Ake being involved in the first-team setup is a promising sign for the future.
Still, our west London locals are pretty happy to hear a story from their official site. They’ve confirmed promising youngster Fikayo Tomori has joined Sky Bet Championship hopefuls Brighton and Hove Albion on loan until the end of the season.
A versatile player, the 19-year-old can operate at either right-back or in central defence, he made his debut for the first-team debut against Leicester City at the back end of last season and has trained with the first-team under Conte.
During his short career thus far, Tomori has picked up a number of awards in SW6. He’s won the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League, also being named the club’s Academy Player of the Year last term.
With such a big future clearly ahead of him, our resident Chelsea fans are delighted he gets to work with a coach such as Chris Hughton as he furthers his development.
