As delighted as the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are about their side’s table-topping form, some of the Blues in the bar are already somewhat nervous of another post-title winning campaign at Stamford Bridge.
While Antonio Conte’s tactical tinkerings has obviously taken the west London giants back to the summit of English football, the Italian is largely using the same batch of players who won the Premier League championship under Jose Mourinho in 2015.
After that, we all know what happened next.
So, with that in mind, reports from the Daily Telegraph have gone down a storm in the Tavern today.
They claim top brass in SW6 are ALREADY drawing up a short-list in regards to potential arrivals in the summer, as the club look to avoid a repeat of the campaign that saw Mourinho sacked, not wanting to stand still in the fast-paced nature of the Premier League.
According to their report, the league leaders have already identified the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alvaro Morata and Moussa Dembele as potential targets to improve their ranks, even if they do win the title again. They are thought to be preparing for a very active summer, having only signed two players this time round as Conte continues his overhaul.
