Conte boost as he reveals lethal forward wants Chelsea deal

Diego Costa is a name that divides even the most ardent Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, such is the controversial nature of the fiery Spaniard.

Amid monumental links with a stunning move to bring Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge, the 27-year old is constantly linked with an emotional return to Atletico Madrid.

Despite his problems, the Spanish international has proved to be a lethal forward in West London and spearheaded their first title victory in half a decade under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.

Though suggestions Diego Simeone could splash the cash and bring him back to Los Rojiblancos refuse to go away, Antonio Conte has insisted he is committed to the cause.

During their pre-season tour of America, the Italian coach has revealed the La Roja ace is happy to stay under his tutelage ahead of his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

‘Diego Costa has recovered from his injury,’ Conte told the club’s official website ahead of tonight’s friendly with AC Milan (quotes sourced by the Metro).

‘Tomorrow I decide the formation and the starting 11 but he is available and I am very happy that I can count on him.

”I repeat that Diego Costa is a Chelsea player and for me this is the most important thing at this moment. He is very happy to stay with us.’
