After joining from Fiorentina late in the summer window, the former Bolton and Sunderland is man understood to be in line for a starting berth at left-back.
In turn, that would see Cesar Azpilicueta revert to his natural right-back position.
The Serbian has been a stoic Stamford stalwart for over seven seasons now, helping the club win multiple domestic and European titles.
Though Old Farther Time catching up with the ex-Lokomotiv Moscow man is sad to watch for the Chelsea fans, they are in agreement in regards to his dropping.
