Conte in secret meeting with top Chelsea target, £28.5m deal nearing conclusion

Radja Nainggolan

As ever with Chelsea, a large part of the daily transfer talk is directed their way ahead of what is likely to be a major summer of transfer activity at Stamford Bridge.

While the punters in the Transfer Tavern daydream as to what Antonio Conte will bring them on the field, the Italian coach seems to be making quite the impression off it already.

According to Italian TV station SportMediaset (via the Daily Express), the 46-year old has met with reported target Radja Nainggolan in Rome to discuss a move to West London.

It’s been widely reported that the tenacious Belgian midfielder is nearing a move to the Bridge as one of the first major signings of the Conte era.

The report claims the two met in a hotel with the prospect of a £28.5m the matter of discussion, following a fan event to which the 26-year old was attending.

He will be no stranger to the incoming Blues boss, who viewed his midfield talents at close quarters while in charge of Juventus for a number of years.

Will Nainggolan live up to the hype? Why is Conte so obsessed with landing him?
