Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been kept busy this week at the bar by discussing the future of a striker within their squad, who has failed to impress so far.
£33m signing Michy Batshuayi arrived at Stamford Bridge from Marseille with high expectations in the summer but has thus far been unable to make an impression, as the Belgian finds himself struggling for first-team opportunities.
The fine form of Diego Costa in Chelsea’s starting XI has restricted the amount of minutes Batshuayi has seen on the field, whilst the former Standard Liege hasn’t really set the world alight in the rare opportunities he has earned.
With consistent speculation that Antonio Conte will sign a new striker this month, a host of clubs have expressed interested in signing Batshuayi on-loan but The Daily Star says Chelsea have come to a decision on the player’s future and will not allow an exit this month.
The Blues reportedly believe the 23-year-old can still make a positive impact in the first-team and our landlord agrees that this is the right decision. Though Costa currently looks imperious leading the line, the Belgian has every chance of becoming the main man in years to come.
