Though the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are scrutinising everything Antonio Conte does with Italy at Euro 2016 ahead of his arrival, their excitement has been rocked.
That’s because, according to Spanish outlet AS, star striker Diego Costa is reportedly willing to pull out all the stops to secure a move back to Atletico Madrid this summer.
The Spaniard moved to West London in 2014 from Los Rojiblancos and hit the ground running, notching 20 league goals as the Blues marched to their first title in half a decade under Jose Mourinho.
However, much like the team in a wider sense, the 27-year old struggled to replicate his lethal form this term and was blighted by a lack of form and fitness.
Despite his form picking up somewhat as Guus Hiddink replaced the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, links with a return to the Spanish capital are persistent.
Now, the report claims that while the Champions League finalists failed with a bid back in January, the La Roja marksman no longer wants to live in London and is keen on reuniting with Diego Simeone.
The Blues themselves have been linked with a move for Juventus ace Alvaro Morata, who could potentially act as a replacement for his compatriot at Stamford Bridge.
Is Costa really worth the hassle?
