Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are thinking if any manager has to ask themselves a plethora of questions about what has gone wrong this season Antonio Conte has to be up there. With the Blues missing out on Champions League football again, which is soul-destroying for them, it’s not been a great year in SW6.
After a bit of a wobble at the start of the season, our regulars started to notice that Chelsea looked to improve weekly and seemed destined to grab a top-four spot turning into the New Year. However, by only winning three Premier League games so far this year, they have slipped out of the top-four places and now are looking in dire straits, with Arsenal now breathing down their necks in 6th.
The former Premier League champions have lost their crown to a Man City team that is in irresistible form under Pep Guardiola. Having lifted the trophy twice in three years, Chelsea will be eager to push City close next season, despite the current gap between the two teams.
Indeed, Conte will be certainly raising a few questions of himself come the end of the season, and talks with the board about his future will surely be a little firey, to say the least. With that in mind, here are TWO questions the Italian must ask himself come May…
