With the international break drawing to a very welcome close, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been talking up their title chances.
However, as they enjoy a post-work pint in the famous four halls, reports from the Sun have proved thoroughly shocking for the west London locals.
They’ve revealed that betting has been suspended on Blues boss Antonio Conte being SACKED following a flurry of bets this afternoon.
He’s now the strong favourite to become the second manager in the Premier League to lose his job this season, following countryman Francesco Guidolin’s marching orders by Swansea earlier this month.
Having only arrived at Stamford Bridge in July after his time coaching Italy at Euro 2016, the news would certainly be a shock for the Blues faithful.
Owner Roman Abramovich has been known for his ruthless sacking sprees in the past, though one this early would be a record even for him.
Betway and Paddy Power have both suspended betting, while the likes of Betfair and Ladbrokes have him down as 6/1 to get the boot.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks there is no substance in this at all, and can envisage seeing the Italian at the helm of Chelsea for a number of seasons.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, the Blues face Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in the early kick-off on Saturday.
Will this be Conte’s last the season at Chelsea? Let us know below…
