Chelsea are building a strong squad and Maurizio Sarri has settled in well with the Blues, which could lead to a successful season.
The Italian didn’t have a lot of time to invest in the transfer market but thus far, his business looks to be impeccable. Kovacic, Jorginho and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga have all made strong starts to their career in Blue and with the team last season missing out on Champions League qualification, Chelsea it seems have made the right moves in the hope of getting back there this year.
With all this new talent coming into the club, it’s no surprise to see some players disappointed with a lack of game-time and one of those would be Danny Drinkwater – who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt.
The Englishman only joined Chelsea last summer but he already seems to be a player that has been cast aside by Maurizio Sarri. Arriving to the Premier League champions at the time, Drinkwater was supposed to be the partner to N’golo Kante, which had previously been the case at Leicester, when the pair won the Premier League together.
After just 12 Premier League appearances last season though, Drinkwater found life as a Chelsea player particularly hard. He hasn’t been included in the match-day squads since the start of the league campaign and it seems that a move away from Stamford Bridge would have been the best option for him.
Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have performed extremely well and their names in football are well respected. The Englishman would have to perform a miracle to get ahead of either of these newbies as it seems his career is heading in the other direction.
