Having won the Premier League title yesterday, there are a few sore heads amongst the Chelsea fans drinking off their hangovers in the Transfer Tavern today.
Antonio Conte cemented himself into the Blues’ folklore and is now just one win away from securing a league and cup double in his first season, though a story from Yahoo Sport! hints at problems.
While not to rain on Chelsea’s parade, the story claims the Italian and top brass at Stamford Bridge are in disagreement over the structure of youth development in west London.
The club are believed to want Conte to head up that department and, while the 47-year-old is reportedly open to that idea, is understood to want to be given full control over it should he take responsibility.
Over the years, the Blues in the bar have lamented the difficulty some of their most talented youth players have to go through in terms of making into the first-team, a rare occurrence in SW6.
Despite lavish funds splashed on that area of the club, Chelsea are not known for their willingness to promote talent from within.
Indeed, Conte is understood to have seen his idea of making his own appointment to work on that side of things last summer rejected.
Whether or not this could be a big enough reason to see the 47-year-old depart, our resident Chelsea fans just hope his future is soon secured.
