Don’t sell yet: Chelsea must be patient with divisive first team regular next season

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t shift their annoyance at having such a poor season leaving Antonio Conte’s position as manager very unstable.

The Blues really crumbled in form this season, going from dominant title winners in Conte’s first season in charge, to a team who couldn’t reach the Champions League for the second time in three seasons. A player who was brought in last summer by the name of Alvaro Morata was said to be the perfect replacement for Diego Costa and the new goal-threat for Chelsea but unfortunately for the Spaniard, that really didn’t go to plan.

Although scoring 15 goals in all competitions is more than acceptable for most teams in the Premier League, the £58.5 million rated forward found that Chelsea weren’t so keen on his record. Also, the fact that his performances weren’t as dominating as they first believed they would be didn’t help.

However, it must be noted that Morata could still bring a lot to the Blues next season.

A lot of players struggle to adapt to the Premier League in their first season but scoring 15 goals as well as bagging 6 assists isn’t a bad record. Morata is still only 25 and has a lot of time ahead of him to improve his career at Chelsea to become the main man they always wanted him to be.

Next season will likely be very different for Chelsea as they may look at bringing in a new manager as well as a number of new players to improve their chances of success. After one season though, our punters feel that Chelsea should continue to try with Alvaro Morata because they could regret his sale among many others.
