With the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern excited for what looks like being a busy summer of activity, reports today have sparked intrigue amongst the Blues in the bar.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are ready to sanction a loan deal to send Tammy Abraham to Newcastle United next season. The 19-year-old impressed while on loan with Bristol City, notching 26 goals in all competitions, and was reportedly meant to be promoted to Antonio Conte’s first-team.
Still, Toon boss Rafa Benitez is understood to have a good working relationship with Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, one which is said to have clinched a deal. The Spaniard is believed to have travelled to St. George’s Park recently in order to personally convince the marksman to join.
A deal is thought to be expected to be completed this weekend and, while the Blue boys in the bar would have loved to have seen him strut his stuff in SW6, they reckon this could help Abraham develop.
