Forget Jokanovic: Chelsea should take a risk on this unproven manager instead

Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking at who could possibly be replacing Antonio Conte if his time is up at the bridge, even after guiding them to FA Cup final glory. With the latest rumours flying around over promising Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic in the market to be a replacement.

The Italian hasn’t had the best of seasons overall with the defending Premier League Champions and it seems to our regulars, that the curse of winning the top prize in English football is striking again. Despite winning his first major cup competition against Man United recently, it seems the writings on the wall for the Italian.

Conte had won a handful of games in the Premier League this year, and many of them coming in their late surge for a Champions League spot, with the pressure building up at Stamford Bridge it could mean a huge change in personnel. With much being made of London rivals Fulham’s man in charge taking over at the helm, but as of yet, it seems it’s nothing concrete.

Indeed, Jokanovic would be a great replacement, but some of our punters feel that his name may not attract the quality needed to launch another title-winning campaign, the man on the tip of our regulars tongue is…

OUR VERDICT – Mikel Arteta

Having seemingly ruled himself out of the role at Arsenal before the Gunners appointed Unai Emery, Arteta is clearly looking for a role bigger than what he currently has.

His years served under the innovated Pep Guardiola can only pay dividends in his first managerial job and, Chelsea could reap the benefits of the Spaniard’s lessons learnt.

Indeed, it would be a gamble, but one that could pay off for the Blues given Arteta’s standing in the Premier League as a captain and an assistant.
