Though his bizarre stint with Manchester City saw him score against his former charges, there’s little doubt Frank Lampard is a bonafide Chelsea legend.
The former West Ham midfielder enjoyed a glittering career with the Blues and is now plying his trade with New York City FC as he enjoys the autumn of his career in the Big Apple.
Turning ever more into a celebrity, the ex-England man is hosting an #AskLampard session on the MLS side’s YouTube account.
Asked what his funniest moment on a football pitch, the 38-year-old gave a rather bizarre answer.
Having been around for as long as he has, you’d expect Lampard to have some truly astounding tales.
Whether or not he has and chose to share them remains to be seen, though he’s revealed the funniest moment he had involved Claude Makelele.
The year was 2005 and the Blues had stormed the Premier League under the tutelage of a young Jose Mourinho.
The French midfielder had been a revelation on these shores, protecting the back four in a way not seen before in England.
Clearly, that limited his shots on goal so the west London giants afforded him the chance to take a late penalty against Charlton at the Bridge.
Perhaps inevitably, Makelele then missed his spot-kick, only to get a lucky rebound in order to notch a rare goal.
Yeah, hilarious Frank…
What’s your best Lampard moment?…
