‘Giroud or we riot’ – Chelsea fans on Twitter don’t have much time for star after Conte comments

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from their Italian gaffer, Antonio Conte, as he’s declared Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata fit for the club’s home game against Huddersfield tomorrow. The Blues need to win their last two Premier League games to have a chance of Champions League qualification, and the fitness of Morata will be a big boost for them.

Chelsea have been going out against teams with a target-man to hit in Olivier Giroud in recent weeks. The Chelsea forward, who jumped ship from Arsenal in January, has been in red-hot form as of late, scoring twice in the club’s incredible comeback victory over Southampton and then bagging on Sunday as the Blues took a 1-0 home win over Liverpool to narrow the gap in the Champions League race.

Despite the effectiveness of Giroud’s blunt style of pay, having another option available is key to the club. Alvaro Morata provides just that, the ex-Real Madrid and Juventus frontman has had a modest first season in London. Despite a return of 11 goals and six assists from his 29 appearances in the Premier League, the fans would’ve hoped for more given the sizeable fee that was forked out to bring him to East London. However, if Morata can score the goals to ensure Champions League football then all will be forgiven and his first season will go down as a success.
