Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea have given Derby County permission to approach youngster Kasey Palmer about a move back to Pride Park.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder enjoyed a loan spell with the Rams in the second half of last season, in which he managed 15 Championship appearances. This followed a move to Premier League side Huddersfield, where he failed to establish himself in the first team, leading to an early end to his time with the Terriers.
Whether Palmer’s next move will once again be on a loan basis, or a permanent departure from Stamford Bridge, is unclear.
What is clear though is that Chelsea have a huge stock of talented youngsters who are not close to getting regular minutes for the Blues’ first team, so would perhaps benefit from a spell playing in a Championship side.
22-year-old Brazilian left-winger Nathan joined Chelsea in 2015 but has still never made a competitive appearance for the Blues. Subsequent loan spells with Vitesse, Amiens and Belenenses have yielded mixed results, and Nathan remains a long way from having any kind of meaningful involvement at Stamford Bridge.
A successful loan spell with a Championship side could put Nathan in the shop window to secure a permanent move away from the West London side.
Unlike Nathan, Boga has made his Chelsea debut – appearing in the 2017/18 Premier League season – and his long term future may well still be in Blue. The 21-year-old French forward is highly rated at Stamford Bridge.
However, a stint with Birmingham last season was low on end product. Another, more successful, Championship spell will be needed this time around if Boga is to keep his Chelsea dream alive.
