It’s barely been the best few months for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, who are rather rightly frustrated about it.
Indeed, the Blues in the bar cannot believe just how small Antonio Conte’s squad is heading into a title defence and shades of 2015/16 are already rearing their ugly heads amongst those propping up our.
With that in mind, our west London locals could really do with some cheering up.
So, reports from the Sun have really gone down rather well today. They claim the Premier League champions will make a huge £50m offer to land Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose, after reportedly making him their No.1 target.
The 27-year-old recently gave an explosive interview to the same publication suggesting he was growing frustrated with life on Hotspur Way and, while he has since apologised, has been touted for an exit.
Now, Chelsea are thought to be keen on a £50m move, in a transfer that would surely go some way into appeasing frustrations in SW6. Though Tottenham aren’t believed to have given any indication that they’d be open to a sale, the England international could be the subject of a bid just hours after Sunday’s meeting between the two clubs.
As you can imagine, the idea of landing Rose has gone down very well in our bar.
Rose would seriously strengthen Chelsea. Able to operate as a wing-back, the 27-year-old would be a huge upgrade on Marcos Alonso, giving the Blues some impressive strength in depth.
Not only that, he’d weaken a rival, though it’s hard to see Spurs allowing him to go to Chelsea, with so little time left in the window.
