According to ‘FourFourTwo.com’ it had been reported that Chelsea’s promising young striker Romelu Lukaku would leave on loan in January with Malaga and Stoke as potential destinations.
Lukaku dubbed the ‘next Drogba’ due to his size, power and ability is definitely a hot prospect and one for the future, but his move to Stamford Bridge may have been a move too soon. Lukaku has great potential there is no doubt about that, but the predicament he finds himself in, is that there are bigger and better players in front of him. Chelsea have some world class strikers in Torres and Drogba with Aneka and Sturridge following. So where does Lukaku fit in Andre Villas-Boas’ plans?
A move in January didn’t look out of the question. It worked wonders for Daniel Sturridge last year, who was loaned out to Bolton as a means to gain more Premier League experience, and the moved paid dividends.
However Lukaku’s agent Roger Henrotay has quickly come out to dismiss any rumours regarding his clients future and stressed that the 18-year-old will not be leaving Stamford Bridge and that his future lies in London.
He told Calciomercato.it: “His future is clear,” he will not move in January, he will definitely stay in London.
“The rumours about Malaga and Stoke City? No, I repeat, Romelu will stay at Chelsea where he is very happy and he will not change jerseys.”
His agent also dismissed any speculation over a possible move to Italian giants A.C. Milan. He added: “I’m sorry but there is no possibility of him moving to the Rossoneri.”
I do hope that Lukaku is given a fairer opportunity to prove himself by Andre Villas-Boas, because he is an exceptional talent and it will be a shame to see it wasted by sitting on the bench for the whole season. He is still young and has a long time to develop, but as a young player he is desperately eager to be out there and playing.
