The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see the Diego Costa situation sorted out as soon as possible.
Indeed, though Antonio Conte’s side hugely impressed during the weekend win over Tottenham Hotspur, the Spaniard’s figure looms large over Stamford Bridge right now.
So, reports from the Daily Telegraph have proven rather interesting today. They’ve revealed that both Marseille and Monaco retain an interest in the 28-year-0ld, despite his strong links with a return to Atletico Madrid.
Los Rojiblancos cannot even register the 28-year-old until January, so the French sides are believed to also have an interest in the La Roja star.
”I like his character, his grit and his sense of combat”, said Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud.
”He would fit in very well at OM. However, he has a complicated contractual situation.
“If a player ticks all the boxes, then we showed that we were able to do the transactions. Why not? But it [the deal] must at least meet certain conditions. Nothing is impossible.
Both Ligue 1 sides would have to complete a move for him by next Thursday’s deadline, though Atletico are under no such pressure, with them able to wait until the New Year as a result of their transfer ban.
As you can imagine, the Blues in our bar just want it sorted ASAP.
It’s absolutely imperative Chelsea sell Costa this summer. Having this situation drag on any longer could do a huge amount of damage behind the scenes, so they need it sorted very quickly.
