The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are seriously excited about a new era for the club as Antonio Conte gears up to defend the title he won with such ease during his first campaign on these shores.
Indeed, the Blues in the bar believe this could be the start of something special and the Italian has presided over the first captaincy change at Stamford Bridge in years, with Gary Cahill taking over from the recently-departed John Terry.
Having worn the armband for much of last season, Cahill is well-suited to taking over such duties. In fact, Terry recently took to Instagram to reveal exactly what he thought about his former teammate being handed the role on a full-time basis.
Now with Aston Villa, the Blues bastion congratulated the former Bolton man and joked they’d need a bigger armband in order to accommodate for his arms.
Terry’s comments have our west London locals welling up, missing the Stamford stalwart already, even if the club are moving on into a new era.
