Chelsea’s managerial situation has finally reached a conclusion after Antonio Conte was finally relieved of his duties.

The Italian’s position at the club became untenable following a disappointing season in the Premier League. The Blues finished fifth in the Premier League, and Conte paid the price for missing out on Champions League football. Despite delivering the FA Cup, Roman Abramovich had made up his mind.

Conte was finally given his marching orders with the club agreeing on a £9m severance package. Former Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, has taken the reins at Stamford Bridge, though the Italian side have been tough to negotiate with.

Sarri could arrive the club needing to sign a new goalkeeper. Current number one, Thibaut Courtois, has just one year remaining on his contract and has been targeted by Real Madrid who are searching for a replacement for Keylor Navas. Should Courtois depart, Sarri will need to find a replacement quickly.

One man that should not be overlooked is England World Cup hero – Jordan Pickford. Valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, the Everton shot-stopper was excellent during the Three Lions’ run to the semi-final of the tournament. Pickford also impressed in his first season at Goodison Park after joining from Sunderland last summer.

The 24-year-old has great reflexes and would be a great replacement for Courtois. Everton will not want to lose their star ‘keeper but need to offload some players in order to spend this summer.
