Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait to see their side get going this season as the club looks to defend the Premier League title they won last season.
The Blues won the league rather comfortably last year in the end and they surely know that it is going to be harder this time out with them having to balance their European engagements with league football.
How they do that, then, will surely have the most impact on the club’s results and it would be wise to expect that Chelsea are going to sign a few more players before the end of the window.
Indeed, there’s only a few weeks left to do any business and it seems as though Antonio Conte is open to getting more players in but would rather spend big money on a handful instead of one big name.
Indeed, we’ve seen the biggest example ever of that recently with Neymar heading to PSG and Conte would rather get in multiple top players for that kind of figure.
He said – via the Metro:
“I think now is not the right moment for Chelsea to spend so much money on one player because we need many players.”
For sure, then, the Blues may sign some more players in this window but we shouldn’t expect a massive outlay on one star.
Conte has signed the likes of Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko in this window for fairly big prices but nothing like the fee that was spent on Neymar.
Indeed, he appears averse to trying such a bid and that is probably the best way to go about things as he looks to juggle playing more games than last year.
