Lamps told he can leave by heartless Chelsea

Whilst most of our punters are still in bed today, the ones that are at the Football Transfer Tavern are reeling from the claim made by The Sun which states that Chelsea player Frank Lampard is set to be kicked out by the club.

Lampard is of course one of the longest serving and most loved Chelsea players and even left the field to a chorus of ‘sign him up’ during the weekend game against Aston Villa, but it looks like Roman Abramovich has ignored the fans yet again with the player not only set to be denied a new deal but to suffer the indignity of actually being told to leave by the club.

For a player who most feel has a huge amount left to give, our punters are putting down their pints and scratching their head over this latest development. The 34-year-old player was – according to The Sun – told to find a new club before the game against Villa, yet still managed to score a fine finish and put in a stellar performance.

Whilst Frank is thought to be bemused and distraught by the ruthless treatment by the club, one of their record goalscorers who used to regularly net 20 per season will not be short of suitors either in the Premier League or across Europe with QPR and Arsenal already reportedly making moves to talk to the player.

Do you think letting Lampard go is a good move by the Blues? Vote in our polls below.
