As big a blunder as it could prove to be financially, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are no doubt excited about the prospect of landing a potent new forward.
A big money move to bring Romelu Lukaku has been mooted for some time now, with the Blues touted as a potential £65m landing spot for the Everton striker.
It is a far cry from the situation in 2014, when the West London giants were lauded for being able to sell the Belgian at what seemed like an inflated £28m.
With speculation rife over the 22-year old’s future, the former Anderlecht prodigy has confirmed he is looking to leave the Toffees over the course of the next few months in order to further develop his career.
“I’m at a point where I have to make a good career choice,” he told the Daily Star.
“I have had a very good season, but it is time for me to write myself a CV. That is why I play football.”
“I get that trophy-winning mindset from Chelsea.”
“People in Belgium don’t see me playing for Everton, but I am respected in England by fans, managers and experts like Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry.”
Is Lukaku worth such big money in the long run?
