Man United rocked as £65m target wants to emulate club legend at Chelsea

Only a few years ago, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were dancing on the pool tables when Jose Mourinho opted to sell Romelu Lukaku for what looked like a wonderful piece of business at £28m.

The Belgian was shown the exit door after failing to make the grade in West London, though his meteoric rise has left egg on the faces of those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge in light of their own attacking ailments.

Indicative of the crazy world the Premier League now is, the fallen English champions have been one of many top European outfits to be linked with big money moves for the player.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also thought to retain an interest in the Everton star, though reports from ESPN today suggest the 22-year old favours a move back to his former charges.

He is understood to be a Chelsea fan himself and harbours aspirations of emulating Didier Drogba, to whom he has drawn comparisons already in his short career.

The former Anderlecht prodigy has announced he already knows where he will be playing his football next season, with the West London giants now believed to be front runners in a seismic £65m battle.

Would this be the biggest transfer blunder ever for Chelsea? Or will he become too good to care in his second Stamford stint?
