While Chelsea’s rather controversial loan system has attracted criticism over the years from the punters propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, though the Blues simply keep making money.
Indeed, the recent sale of Nathan Ake – reportedly for £20m – has our west London locals starting to come on side in regards to that very policy. Still, reports from the Independent have today worried those punters.
They claim an exit for England U21 international Nathaniel Chalobah remains likely this summer, with just a year remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge. Despite breaking into Antonio Conte’s matchday squad last season, the 22-year-old may face a task doing so next term, if Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko arrives.
Chalobah – who has impressed during a number of loan spells away from the club over the years – is reportedly expected back at Cobham next week to have his groin injury assessed, as well as discuss his future at the club.
Considering his age and the price imposed on English talent, Chelsea could realistically ask for a hefty sum if he is to leave, so the idea of him leaving is a splitting subject amongst the Blues in our bar.
