Chelsea can finally turn their attention to transfer after their managerial mess was finally resolved.
After months of speculation, Antonio Conte was finally relieved of his duties earlier this month. The Italian led the Blues to the title during his first year in England but paid the price for a poor 17/18 season. Although he lifted the FA Cup, missing out on Champions League football was costly.
Former Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, will replace him in the dugout and was influential in convincing Jorginho to move to Stamford Bridge instead of Manchester City. Sarri arrives with a glowing reputation after guiding Napoli to two-second place finishes in three years. He can now focus on revamping the Chelsea squad.
To kick off his reign, he should make an ambitious move to sign Lazio superstar – Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Since joining from Genk in 2015, the Serb has developed into a world-class midfielder. He was one of the top performers in Europe last season, netting 14 goals and registering nine assists in all competitions.
Still only 23-years-old, Milinkovic-Savic is a one-of-a-kind footballer. He is blessed with excellent technical ability but also a large physical frame which makes him a powerful midfielder. As a result of his phenomenal performances, his market value has skyrocketed to £81m according to Transfermarkt.
Chelsea have the financial resources to bring the youngster to the Premier League and landing his signature would be a massive statement of intent. Signing Milinkovic-Savic would give the Blues one of the best midfielders in world football. Alongside N’Golo Kante, they would be unstoppable.
