More problems for Conte at Chelsea emerge amid latest reported power struggle

Though Chelsea look likely to win a fifth Premier League title during Antonio Conte’s first season in charge of the club, there remains an uneasy feeling amongst our west London locals.

Despite the fact the Blues are in charge of the title race, reports from the Times today suggest at a power struggle behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge. According to their report, the Italian is keen on bringing in a countryman as a coach to replace Steve Holland at the end of the season, a request reportedly yet to be sanctioned by the Blues board.

Those behind the scenes in SW6 are understood to be keen on a domestic option to fill that gap when Holland departs for the English national side at the end of the season.

As a result, Conte is believed to be ‘at odds’ with his bosses over the changes to his staff.

Worrying enough for the Blues in the bar, these aren’t the first reports of a battle behind the scenes. ESPN have previously suggested Inter Milan are increasingly confident in their pursuit of him, while reports from the Sun indicated in a difference in targets between he and technical director Michael Emenalo.

For the Chelsea fans in the bar, they just hope Conte sticks around for the long haul.
