Looking at various back pages, the ridiculous, pointless, no-legs speculation continues to pollute the summer air… and the Daily mail has pointed out, Everton will look to bring in Manchester City starlet Adam Johnson on a season long loan.
The paper claims David Moyes will look to make an ambitious (not half) move for the England International, after falling short to Aston Villa in the race to land Charles N’Zogbia.
Moyes will have to work wonders this summer as the funds available are non-existent, therefore, he will either have to sell to buy or look bring in players on loan.
Despite City’s big spending, and looking to improve every position on the pitch, Johnson, whom signed a four and a half year deal in 2010 and made 39 appearances for the mega rich Sky blues last term, helping them secure Champions league football, plus lift the FA cup, will certainly feel he has a point to prove, and will believe he is just as good as anyone to occupy the flank at the Etihad Stadium and be part of the City revolution.
I’m sure Moyes will find a solution in the end and continue his commendable work on Merseyside as we head into the new campaign, but I just can’t see this one happening.
It has also been reported Chelsea have shown their admiration towards Johnson, and they would be keen to bring him to the capital on a permanent basis. Sunderland are also believed to be lurking in the shadows if City were to place a price tag on his head
With Roberto Mancini reluctant to sell to title rivals that would automatically right Chelsea off, so unless Steve Bruce stumps up the £20m valuation (according to the Mail) I would be shocked to say the least if the 24 year old winger does not start the new season as a Manchester City player.
