Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea faced a stern reality check with their 6-0 thrashing from Manchester City.
Not only did the embarrassment point out their defensive frailties, but the lack of fight from their attack was also appalling. It almost feels like when Eden Hazard has a bad day, Chelsea, as a whole, are destined to have a frustrating one as well.
The Blues might be set to lose Hazard soon, but need to find a proper replacement to bring similar flair to their attack.
Indeed, the French attacking midfielder’s earned his attention by performing really well for Olympique Lyonnais over the years.
After his move to Liverpool failed last summer, Fekir’s shown admirable patience and continued his growth at Lyon. He’s scored ten goals and assisted five so far in all competitions and has turned up on big occasions, especially after winning the World Cup with his country. Interestingly, Fekir’s impressive performances against Manchester City and most recently against Paris Saint-Germain proved he can perform on big occasions.
Not only is Fekir a clinical goal-scorer, but he can also carve up many opportunities for his fellow attackers. He possesses a brilliant creative eye and can work to Gonzalo Higuain's strengths, should the Argentine extend his stay in West London this summer.
The Frenchman can also work to Sarri’s favour, with his impressive passing ability and movement in the attack being suitable for Sarriball. The Blues need a blooming talent to fill Hazard’s void if he leaves in the summer but also to make a statement in the transfer window in that very case.
Fekir has all the qualities to fill in his shoes and can light up Chelsea’s attacking potential.
