Arjen Robben has been linked with a move back to the Premier League and it is believed Liverpool are the ones chasing his signature. While content in Germany, Robben has had spats with several team mates this season including an on the pitch scuffle with fellow forward Thomas Muller.
The 27 year old is also believed to be frustrated at Bayern Munich’s progress this season as they sit currently 3rd some 13 points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund. Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish is currently on the lookout for reinforcements for next season and a wide man is his first priority.
Robben would not come cheaply however and could cost anything up to £30 million with Bayern Munich famously stubborn when it comes to selling their players. When Manchester United came calling for Owen Hargreaves they had to pay some £18 million for the player in a transfer that took over a year to complete. Interest was high in Frank Ribery after United sold Ronaldo to Madrid. However Bayern believed that if Ronaldo was worth £80 million then so was Ribery.
While having endured a successful season last year the same can not be said this time around. Robben has been injured for the majority of it and only recently made his comeback on 15 January, coming on as a substitute in the 1–1 away draw with VFL Wolfsburg.
The Dutch international has 51 caps to his name while also scoring 16 goals for his country. There is no doubt Robben could be a threat in the Premier League as many will remember his fantastic dribbling skills terrorising defenders in his Chelsea days. Whether Liverpool are prepared to meet the asking price or whether they can even agree a fee with the German club remains to be seen, however tonight is the perfect opportunity for Robben to show case his talents.
