The Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t devoting all too much time to celebrating their FA Cup win. Indeed, the Blues in our bar weren’t at all happy with the complexion of their campaign and want a big summer spend to ensure missing out on Champions League football isn’t a regular occurrence.
With that in mind, recent reports from the Daily Telegraph claiming the club had made Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski their primary transfer target should have gone down a storm. Summer signing Alvaro Morata has failed to hit the ground running and, as a result, the West London side are plotting a move for the Pole.
However, not everyone is as happy as you’d imagine. Indeed, many Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club NOT to move for the Bundesliga star this summer, believing him to be too old and too expensive.
Here’s a closer look.
No, Morata is future

Lewandowski is being linked with Chelsea… Its a high profile player, which is what the club needs more of, but i cant help but think we are going to pay 80+million for a player who is nearly 30

I don't support the idea of @ChelseaFC buying Lewandowski.
If you want to spend 100M on a 30-year old striker then you better add 20M to it and sign someone like Dybala or Icardi who are much younger, who will improve even more and who will last you longer.

Don't want lewandowski.

Chelsea will be stupid to spend 100million just to buy 30year old striker lewandowski, its really pointless. Is it not better to add a few mill or even that same amount to buy Dybala or even icardi for cheaper instead. They are younger and still lethal finishers. #CFC
