Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are certainly feeling better after last night’s victory, although there was a notable injury scare for the Blues.
Indeed, all of the controversy surrounding Antonio Conte and his future at the club appeared to disappear after last night’s win, as Chelsea got back to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 triumph over West Bromwich Albion. However, much to the displeasure of many of our local Blues here in the Tavern, January signing Olivier Giroud suffered a head injury in Monday night’s encounter after being forced to start by Conte. Although, it doesn’t appear to be as bad as it first appeared for the Blues, as according to reports in the Mail Online, Olivier Giroud should be fit for the Hull City game despite receiving stitches.
Indeed, the Frenchman was in the wars during his full debut for the Blues last night, as Giroud took a stud to the head that rewarded him with five stitches for his troubles. And, with the stitches adding to a calf injury that he was still feeling the effects from, manager Antonio Conte still believes that the striker will be fit for their FA Cup clash against Hull City on Friday.
Aside from the war wounds suffered in the fixture against West Bromwich Albion, it was a debut to remember for the Frenchman after setting up teammate Eden Hazard for his first goal in what was a positive start to life at Stamford Bridge. Therefore, with a slightly easier opposition in Championship side Hull City up next for the Blues, Giroud will be keen to get his goalscoring tally up and running with his new club.
Olivier Giroud showed his new Chelsea teammates that he’s not just an aerial threat, after providing an assist for Eden Hazard’s goal. Indeed, a huge boost to now see him set to feature in the squad for their FA Cup game, as the Frenchman has another opportunity to work his magic for the Blues.
