The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are still annoyed about their weekend draw with Arsenal after the watched their side struggle to break down the Gunners.
Yes, that sounds rather strange.
Indeed, the Blues in the bar are largely happy with their start to life in the Premier League after a rather slow summer and reports from the London Evening Standard at least give them something to smile about ahead of this weekend’s trip to Stoke City.
They’ve revealed that Antonio Conte remains optimistic that Pedro will be available for selection for the clash with the Potters, despite being subbed off at half-time against Arsenal. The Spaniard picked up an ankle problem after being tackled by Nacho Monreal, though Conte seems to hope he can call on the winger for their journey up to the Potteries.
“Pedro had a knock on his ankle and I hope it’s nothing more serious,” Conte said.
“I hope (he can play next weekend). ”
“Don’t forget that against Arsenal in pre-season, he broke his face and then he missed many games. I hope he will recover very well for the next (League) game.”
In good form this season, our west London locals would love to see the 30-year-old lineup alongside Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard in a devastating attacking trident.
Pedro is so important to Conte’s set-up. His work-rate and ability to find space in support of Morata has largely been preferred by Conte to Willian, so if he’s fit enough to start on Saturday, he probably will.
