Recent transfer nightmares should mean Chelsea make clever move for £16.2m-rated creator

The Chelsea fans within the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a lot more next season but with the future of manager Antonio Conte still uncertain, new signings may have to wait a bit longer yet.

The previous transfer windows have been the sole reasons behind Chelsea’s poor performances and if they finally want to amend that and get back to the Premier League summit, they need to replace un-needed or un-wanted flops with ones willing to do everything for the badge.

A player who has enjoyed a great season with Zenit out in Russia is Leandro Paredes, who is valued at £16.20 million on Transfermarkt. The 23-year-old midfielder joined from Roma last summer and has immediately shown his real potential with the former Russian champions.

He has the ability to operate as a more defensive or attacking midfielder, and either way has the power to perform well wherever required. Chelsea lack a distinctive option like this with their newest signings such as Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Ross Barkley all failing to live up to the expectation placed on their shoulders when arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Yes, granted, Leandro Paredes isn’t yet a standout player but with the form he’s shown out in Russia, why shouldn’t Chelsea take a gamble on a player who could bring rewards back to Chelsea? The 23-year-old has 6 goals and 10 assists so far this season, a good return for someone only just getting used to football out in Russia but if he is to continue his movement through football teams, who not prove himself in the blue of Chelsea?
