Harry Redknapp has hit an impasse in relation to a proposed exit strategy for Joe Cole to get out of his Chelsea contract dealings. Stamford Bridge have boxed canny in their negotiations with Cole. He hasn’t made a sufficient impact on the pitch this season to have garnered that much intertest in the forthcoming window and he is on a whopping weekly wage that is very unlikely to be met by anyone any time soon.
And whilst Harry is still a big fan of Joe, Levy is adamant that the wage structure won’t be busted on a player that can’t even command a first team place. Whilst there is no rift as such, our man has been told that Harry was politely reminded that Spurs are sailing a solvent ship.
The Chelsea player is desperate to either thrash out an agreeable deal where he is or simply move on, but money, specifically his wages are killing everyone.
The outcome? Joe’s happy enough at Chelsea, but if he’s heading for a wage cut he may well walk just to spite them. But the way his mind is at present, it’s unlikely that even Yanited would fund his threatened exit.
