It was a hectic end to the window for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, who saw Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta arrive on deadline day.
While the Blues in the bar were arguably expecting more, they’re just happy to see Antonio Conte’s squad strengthened. Regarded as one of the best coaches in the world, the Italian has only what’s available to him now.
Well, perhaps not even that.
According to Fanatik, two young flops could yet move on from Stamford Bridge. The Turkish outlet claim Galatasaray are in talks with the Premier League champions over a double move for both Baba Rahman and Kenedy.
The Turkish window does not end until September 8th and sporting director Cenk Ergün is understood to be aiming to land at least one of them on loan to fix Gala’s left-back problem.
Neither are regular members of Conte’s first-team squad, though it’s not as if he’s overly blessed with all too many options as it is ahead of a busy campaign for Chelsea.
While neither Rahman and Kenedy have much of a chance of getting into the first-team, Conte’s options on the left side of defence are really rather short.
Only Marcos Alonso is a natural wing-back there and moving Cesar Azpilicueta to a wider berth detracts an awful lot from the rearguard.
