According to the former Chelsea player, Arjen Robben, there may be many Chelsea players, who may leave following the ban imposed on the club. According to the ban, the London club cannot sign any player for the next two years. Well, it is true that Chelsea may get their punishment reduced. However, in case the ban stays, it is quite likely that some of the stars may leave as pointed out by Robben. Somehow my opinion doesn’t match with the star winger’s, and I really do not see any of the players leaving unless they want to retire.
At present, the Blues have secured most of the player for the next few years and the current lot of players seem be happy at the club with a new boss at its helm. For me, however, which confirms my point, is that most of these Chelsea players are at the brim-end of their career and would not be willing to shift at this stage. Again, the love for club, which they have, is also something that cannot be questioned. For instance, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, all have made their intentions of finish the career at Stamford Bridge.
The quality of these players can never be doubted and it is evident with the start that the club has got this season. Robben thinks players would move, but where? The potential, which the players have, would obviously make them think of clubs that are the best in Europe, if they ever think of moving. Even though there would be clubs interested in some of Chelsea players, but the age factor would play in each and every club’s mind and as we know Chelsea, in general, do not let their players go for a small sum. I don’t think that many clubs would be ready to pay huge amount for ageing players, when they have the option of signing young players at the same price.
