Maurizio Sarri is surely set to sign a new forward in the upcoming transfer window after struggling for goals in the first half of the campaign.
The Italian has reportedly lost faith in current forward, Alvaro Morata, who has failed to impress since his record-breaking move from Real Madrid last season. The Spaniard fell out of favour under Antonio Conte and now faces a similar fate under Chelsea’s new boss. When the Blues lost 1-0 to Leicester earlier this month, it was the second successive game that Sarri chose not to field a forward.
The former Napoli boss will rue the chances missed by his side and would be wise to target a regular goal scorer in the upcoming transfer window. With Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham all scoring for fun, Chelsea are in danger of being late behind in the title race. Signing a world-class forward could give the London side the boost they need in the New Year.
The ideal addition would be Bayern Munich goal machine – Robert Lewandowski. Valued at £63m by Transfermarkt, the Poland captain established himself as one of the top forwards in the world during his time with Borussia Dortmund. His goal scoring exploits under Jurgen Klopp earned him a move to Bayern Munich where his performances continue to amaze both fans and pundits.
The 30-year-old ended last season with an incredible 29 league goals in 29 appearances as well as finding the back of the net five times in the Champions League. Lewandowski has continued his fantastic scoring record in the current campaign, scoring ten goals already including eight in just six Champions League appearances. Lewandowski would be the answer to all of Sarri’s prayers if Chelsea could lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Bayern hasn’t been a dominant force this season, and a move to the Premier League could prove tempting for the Poland international to continue his legacy.
