Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side will bring in a couple of players this summer, as they look like missing out on a top-four spot in the current campaign.
Indeed, the Blues could only managed an important win over Southampton yesterday, though weren’t without their problems and this season does look like petering out. Interestingly, it looks as if the club’s owner Roman Abramovich is taking matters into his own hands, as according to Don Balon, Abramovich is spearheading a move for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.
Indeed, it’s believed that Chelsea have held initial talks over a move for Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio, as owner Roman Abramovich is making sure that the Blues don’t suffer a repeat of the current campaign.
The Spaniard is under contract at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2023 after putting pen to paper on an extension last year, but his progress has stalled in recent months as he’s fallen slightly out of favour under Zinedine Zidane.
Although, it looks as if Alvaro Morata has been one of the main reasons behind the move for Asensio, as it’s understood that he’s talked up the attacking midfielder’s potential to Chelsea chiefs, after playing with him at Madrid before making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, securing Marco Asensio’s services would be huge for Chelsea as one of the world’s most promising attackers, with many of our local residents dreaming of a partnership that involves him and Eden Hazard. Although, the Blues will find it difficult to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the summer, as other clubs may look to join the race.
