Securing £45m-rated talented midfielder would turn Chelsea into genuine title-contenders

The Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are discouraged with their recent transfer dealings but a big transfer window this summer would certainly revive the Blues hopes ahead of next season.

After winning the league last season, Chelsea have regressed in form and in terms of the calibre of players they are signing. If they wish to challenge once more for the Premier League title and domestic competitions, then big name players should be the only deals on the agenda this summer.

One player who has dazzled in the French league is Lyon’s Nabil Fekir, worth an estimated £45 million according to Transfermarkt. The French international playmaker is the fourth top goalscorer in Ligue 1, bagging 16 goals as well as 5 assists in 24 league games. These types of statistics don’t go amiss for a midfielder and Chelsea should see the success they have had before in Ligue 1 – Michael Essien and Didier Drogba to name a few – realising that Fekir could be capable of bringing success back to Chelsea once again.

With Eden Hazard potentially edging closer to a move away from Stamford Bridge, it’s time Chelsea go and splash the cash for a big name who still has years ahead of him to improve. Nabil Fekir can also be deployed in a number of positions. The role he normally occupies is attacking midfield, though he could also play out on the wing or up-front as a ‘false 9’ attacker.

The fans gathered around the bar like the idea of pipping rivals Arsenal once again to another player and genuinely believe anyway that Fekir would be a really good player for Chelsea. As current captain of Lyon, he could bring much-needed leadership qualities to the team as well as a lot of talent on the ball.
