Star handed Chelsea instructions as club look to push through deal quickly

Having beaten bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur over the course of the weekend, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are in much better spirits of late.

It looked like being a miserable start to the campaign as Antonio Conte’s squad was little to shout about amid a difficult summer window for the Blues in the bar. Indeed, while it’s still not perfect, at least the Italian knows how to get the best out of them.

Still, there is one problem that remains for the Premier League champions. A certain Diego Costa looks to be on full-blown strike at Stamford Bridge as he pushes for a move back to Atletico Madrid.

Well, reports from the Sun cast further light on that matter. They claim Los Rojiblancos are keen for the forward to make PEACE with Chelsea before they make a move for him.

That will reportedly put the Spanish international under pressure to return to England, something he’s vowed not to do, as those in the Spanish capital look to do the deal diplomatically as possible.

The La Liga side are understood to want to pay £25m for their former striker – who cannot play until January – while the Blues are said to value their rebel at £50m.

As you can imagine, our west London locals just hope it’s sorted out as soon as possible.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Chelsea simply won’t be able to move on until they sell Costa. The idea of him remaining at the club past the summer transfer window could see him cause trouble behind the scenes, something Conte must avoid at all costs.

Get him out ASAP.
