Stoic Chelsea stalwart rejects lucrative offers from abroad to extend Stamford stay, Conte handed huge boost

With the proverbial rumour mill sent into overdrive over in West London this summer, the Chelsea fans have met reports suggesting they could be in for at least for some sort of continuity with delight.

Chelsea stalwart John Obi Mikel looks set to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge by rejecting lucrative overtures from Turkey, report the Sun.

The Nigerian midfielder has reportedly put himself in line for a new deal with the Blues after snubbing interest from the likes of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in January,

Understood to have rejected a £110,000 per week deal from the two Turkish titans, the 29-year old now looks to be in the frame to extend his deal.

(Yes, that’s right, John Obi Mikel is not even 30 years old yet.)

Far from the most celebrated member of their squad, the holding midfielder has been a loyal servant for almost a decade now and is entering his final year.

Having fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho, the Super Eagles star was reinstalled in the starting lineup under Guus Hiddink and has helped steady the ship.

Mikel has also been linked with a move to Asia this summer, though could continue his stoic service under Antonio Conte.

How underrated is Mikel? Or are you shocked he’s still at Chelsea?
