Stunning £5m Chelsea revealed, suggests star is committed to the cause

Who says footballers are all about the money, eh? There’s been three cheers in the Transfer Tavern tonight for a certain John Terry. Well, from the Chelsea fans anyway.

That’s because, according to the Daily Mail, the Blues skipper has taken a hefty pay cut in order to stay at Stamford Bridge for at least another season.

The 35-year old put pen to paper on a deal yesterday after much deliberation and is thought to have seen his salary drop £5m.

While it would be too far to suggest the Stamford stalwart is having a tough time of it on a reported £50,000 a week, he is believed to have been on £140,000 previously.

Furthermore, he was linked with a money spinning move to the mega wealthy Chinese Super League in recent weeks, though opted to stay his boyhood charges.

However, he will remain at the club where he has enjoyed so much success for another season as Antonio Conte prepares to arrive.

How much football will Terry get under Conte next season?
