Chelsea will be desperate to improve on their last result as they secured an emphatic victory over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Blues enjoyed the perfect start under Maurizio Sarri last weekend as they secured all three points against a woeful Huddersfield Town side. But, the Italian will be keen to see his side improve as they mount a title challenge over the course of this season.
Maurizio Sarri’s next Premier League game will be against Arsenal as they welcome the Gunners to Stamford Bridge. The North London club were beaten convincingly by defending champions Manchester City last weekend, so they’ll have a point to prove later on today.
Therefore, having taken Sarri’s selection from Chelsea’s last game and the fitness of World Cup players into consideration, we’ve come up with a team that we think the Italian could line up with against Arsenal.
Have a look below to see the entire potential team in FULL…
CHELSEA’S POTENTIAL TEAM VS ARSENAL
We’ve gone with a 4-3-3 formation, as that is the formation that served Chelsea well in their last game and suits the players that Sarri has at his disposal. The Blues love to keep hold of the ball in the middle of midfield, but also look to get it out wide and attack the opposition’s defenders, with a target man at the pinnacle of the attack.
Chelsea loved what summer signing Kepa Arrizabalaga brought to the side on the opening day of their Premier League campaign, so they’ll be hoping for more of the same from him later on today.
In defence, Sarri will turn to the defensive pair that managed to keep a clean sheet away at the John Smith’s Stadium in a convincing manner, which means that David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger will line up at the heart. Meanwhile, Cesar Azpilicueta will resume on the right, with the forever-reliable Marcos Alonso on the other flank.
Jorginho could just be one of the signings of the summer having witnessed his performances in the blue shirt of Chelsea so far, and another quality cameo today might just send supporters into even more of a frenzy. Ross Barkley is enjoying a run in the side and that should continue today, with the forever-reliable N’Golo Kante giving his best alongside him.
The Blues’ front line will consist of Pedro, Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard. The Belgian came on as a substitute against the Terriers last time out, but Maurizio Sarri should look to bring him back into the side against a tough opposition. Also, Pedro is enjoying a rich vein of form after grabbing a goal last time out, and Morata is often the source of all things brilliant at the pinnacle of the attack, so they will both be given the nod.
