Following their Community Shield loss to Arsenal yesterday, the Chelsea fans drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for some new arrivals to strengthen Antonio Conte’s hand.
Despite spending some big bucks this summer, the Blues in the bar aren’t wholly convinced as to whether or not they can challenge on all fronts ahead of the new campaign, with Conte’s squad looking pretty thin as things stand.
So, the notion of seeing another player depart Stamford Bridge hasn’t gone down too well amongst our west London locals. Indeed, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Kenedy is a loan target for Fenerbahce, with negotiations reportedly expected to begin soon.
The 21-year-old was recently at the centre of a publicity storm after posting offensive comments during the Blues’ pre-season tour of China and is believed to have been reprimanded. While this particular report doesn’t mention that, they do state that Conte does not even see the Brazilian as a substitute option in his squad.
They claim the former Fluminense man is expected to agree to a loan move over to Istanbul and it’s fair to say that not many of our local Chelsea supporters are that concerned about his departure, more about how light it leaves them.
Kenedy impressed under Guus Hiddink at times and there’s certainly a player there, though it seems Conte doesn’t fancy him at all. Perhaps a loan move could help him develop into either a Blues star or a more sellable asset, something the club excel in creating via loan moves.
Still, it’s important Conte brings in some players as soon as possible.
