The one last move Chelsea should make to challenge for the Champions League

Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their side complete deals for key targets in the not too distant future.

One of the headlines that have dominated this transfer window has been Chelsea’s pursuit of Juventus’ Alex Sandro. While their efforts have failed to develop into anything purposeful as of yet, our landlord believes firmly that the Blues should make one last attempt to acquire the services of the Brazilian.

While many people will question the reasoning behind the transfer, especially when Marcos Alonso is in inspired form, but our landlord thinks that the opportunity to sign a world-class player is too good to resist.

Alonso is a terrific player; no defender has scored more goals than the Spaniard since he joined Chelsea. Nonetheless, Alex Sandro is the superior player.

The former Porto wing-back is as competent in his defensive work as he is proficient with his attacking responsibilities, he is the complete wing-back.

Stylistically, he would be the perfect match for Antonio Conte’s renowned 3-4-3 formation, a player that oozes class and has attained the invaluable experience of playing and thriving at the highest level.

At the age of 26, it is fathomable to suggest that Sandro has yet to reach the pinnacle of his footballing ability, and who better to nurture and to guide that talent than Antonio Conte.

The Italian has a tremendous ability to get the very best out of his players, Sandro could become the very best under Conte’s guidance.
